We all know that a Raspberry board is easily connected to a screen via the HDMI port. Often your home TV is the chosen video to your operations. Well this solution is not quite optimal. But how can you do then? Well there are many solutions on the market. There are some high-resolution LCD screens of all sizes (large and small), and many of them have even the touch screen, turning these screens in tablet. So instead of using the mouse, just press on the video.
In this article, you can then take a quick look at all the solutions offered by the market at this time. In particular in this article you will see all the large screens (around 7 inches and larger).
Currently on the market some LCD screen models with high resolution are available, and they are very cheap. Some of them are designed specifically be integrated with Raspberry boards. Among these, there are a series of screens produced by SunFounder, a company specialized in kits and accessories for Arduino and Raspberry boards. Lately it has produced and marketed a number of different models with different price ranges, so as to satisfy all the market segments.
Let’s start from the larger model to 10 inches with maximum 1280×800 resolution.
As you can see from the picture this screen is a true gem for fans. The screen is high resolution and is equipped with appropriate screw supports for use as a desktop screen. These supports can be removed and the screen can be used to screw it in any other context (perhaps as a control panel?). In the rear of the screen you can view a compartment with electronic screen that presents the outputs in other formats (as well as HDMI). In the back there is another compartment where you can screw the Raspberry card. The USB and network sockets remain at the screen edges, so as not to hinder the connection with the cables.
The price is very low, at around € 100, but the quality of this display is certainly very high. In fact, in addition to the resolution, the low weight, adaptability for other purposes and to be screwed on different types of support, it has a feature not to be reckoned with. The screen comes with IPS technology that allows you to properly view the fencing even from high angles (0-178 °), without forcing us to look at the upper front screen to be able to work.
|Model||SunFounder 10.1″ HD|
|Size||24,9 x 7,6 x 18,4 cm|
|Video output||HDMI, VGA, AV (CVBS)|
|Other features||IPS Technology, adaptability to different mounting brackets, extremely light|
Let’s see now a smaller SunFounder model. This screen is 7 inches with a resolution of 1024×600.
The price of this model drops significantly, around 70 Euros. This video has very small dimensions, is more compact and often the previous model. Its use is purely as a desktop video. Moreover this screen is based on TFT technology and not IPS and therefore the viewing angle is less. This explains the lower cost of this product.
|Size||13,3 x 2,5 x 8,7 cm|
|Video output||HDMI, VGA, AV1, AV2|
However a parity price, you can find on the market screens that have the touch screen as a feature, giving you the option to select icons on the screen with a finger pressure. For example, the Kuman proposes this model:
From the point of view of technical characteristics, this screen is perfectly identical to the previous. So, if you consider that also it is also equipped with touch screen, you can say it is a good choice. Moreover is available on Amazon at a price even lower than the previous model, it is about 60 euros. Also this screen is based on TFT technology.
|Size||21 x 15,4 x 8,6 cm|
|Video output||HDMI, VGA, AV|
|Other Features||Touch Screen|
For the more smanettoniuna even more advantageous solution exists on the market. In fact, for just 50 Euros, you can buy all the components of a screen and then assemble them where and how you want it.
This solution might be optimal when unlike previous cases, you do not work on an office desk but you want to provide a tool or a house included in our project of a video interaction, ie a control display panel. The resolution is lower than previous models, but includes the Touch Screen.
|Size||17 x 5,8 x 27,7 cm|
|Video output||HDMI, VGA, AV1 e AV2|
|Other features||To be assembled, with Video controller board VS-TY2662-V1|
Another model with all components disassembled is the model released by the Raspberry Pi itself, also this screen has 7 inch of size, touch screen and controllore included.
The only problem with this model, although it has the official status of the thing, so we expect a perfect driver operation, etc. .. the price is very high (is around 90 Euros! :O). Especially since the resolution is low 800×400 (: O). I show below specifications.

|Size||11 x 20 x 2,5 cm|
|Other features||Video schield for Raspberry Pi Boards|
Furthermore if you also want to add the case, you’ll have to spend an additional 20 euros ( :O). There are white, black and trasparent models.
Another model with all disassembled components is proposed by Kuman
There are the same components as the previous models, in addition there is the possibility of remote control. But the price is lower (around 50 euros).
|Size||22 x 15 x 7,6 cm|
|Video output||HDMI, VGA, AV|
|Other features||Touch Screen|
